We have had many challenges during our life becoming Homeless was by far the most difficult by far.
In December on Christmas Day of 2007 we officially became Homeless primarily because of my struggles with Fibromyalgia. Our family was homeless until March 2010.
We saw firsthand the need for more and better resources for homeless and struggling families.
It was hard to find a place to go, who to call and what to do?
I DO NOT KNOW IS THE SCARIEST THING ABOUT BEING HOMELESS!
Trying to find out what to do and then how to do it was like a full time job, there was no guide book or a coach to tell us what and how to do anything. One person would tell you this and another person would tell you that.
We will share more of that another day........
We have come to understand that our journey was to prepare us to do something about this epidemic of Homeless Families and Homeless Veterans!
My husband and I are both Veterans. We met while serving in the Army in 1984 and we have been married since January 8th, 1986. We have three boys: Dylan, 21; Brandon, 18; and Dakota, 8. My mother has also lived with us for most of our life together. We have faced many challenges over the years but this was by far the most difficult one yet.
Yet we survived so that we can share our knowledge and strength with other Homeless Families and Homeless Veterans so that they to can get through this challenging experience in their life.
Which is why are we so passionate about doing something for this alarming epidemic of Homeless Families and Homeless Veterans.
